DEVELOPMENT PLAN 1 2 <br />i a Solid Waste <br />Waste Management of Orange County (WM) is the franchise <br />company that currently provides curbside recycling, garbage, and <br />yard waste services to the City of Santa Ana. It would continue to <br />provide solid waste and recycling service to the Specific Plan Area, <br />subject to change by the city per state and local requirements and/or <br />agreements. The city currently participates in several recycling <br />programs, including residential recycling, organics recycling, and <br />construction and demolition recycling. The city has two authorized <br />haulers for construction and demolition recycling, Waste <br />Management and Ware Disposal. Construction and demolition debris <br />is accepted for recycling at Madison Materials in Santa Ana. <br />MainPlace has piloted a composting project with select restaurants <br />and eateries to help eliminate harmful gases emitted when these <br />products are otherwise dumped into landfills. The food waste from <br />the mall is converted to Biofuel, which provides electricity to the <br />Waste & Water Treatment Plant in the City of Carson. This program <br />is expected to continue. Residential, office, and hotel uses are not <br />subject to composting. <br />s Police and Fire Services <br />- Dolice Services <br />Police services in Santa Ana are provided by the Santa Ana Police <br />Department, headquartered at 60 Civic Center Plaza. The <br />Department has two substations, the Westend Substation located at <br />3750 West McFadden Avenue, and the Santa Ana Regional <br />Transportation Public Safety office located at 1000 E. Santa Ana <br />Boulevard. Emergency response times for the Department are <br />dependent on where the patrol vehicles are in relation to a call, as <br />well as the nature of the call. <br />MainPlace mall includes a security office within the mall building and <br />provides private security for the mall itself, with supplemental service <br />by SAPD during peak seasons. <br />"ira CPrvlrPc <br />Fire protection and emergency medical services are provided by <br />Orange County Fire Authority. The closest fire station is Fire Station <br />#70 located at 2301 Old Grand Street North, approximately 1.5 miles <br />from the Specific Plan area. Fire service calls will incrementally <br />increase as a result of the development of the Specific Plan area. <br />As part of project design, all road/driveway widths, as well as the <br />placement of fire hydrants and installation of automatic sprinkler <br />systems, shall be designed with the guidance of the OCFA. A <br />circulation system that allows unhindered OCFA access and <br />maneuvering during emergencies shall be provided. <br />2.7.9 Schools <br />The Specific Plan area is located within the boundaries of two school <br />districts (see Figure 2-15, School District Boundary Map): <br />M. JQIILQ MIICI unified Sci,vu, LAI�Ll ILL <br />The Santa Ana Unified School District boundary encompasses the <br />southern 75% of the Specific Plan area. The District's boundary <br />generally ends at the intersection of Main Street/Main Place <br />Drive/Town and Country. The SAUSD provides K-12 schools for areas <br />within its boundaries.
