DESIGN GUIDELINES 1 4 <br />4.4 Parking Lot/Structure Design <br />1.4.1 Parking Facilities and Vehicular Access <br />Creative parking solutions will be critical in accommodating the <br />increase of visitors, workers, and residents anticipated with the <br />buildout of the Specific Plan area. New development must <br />accommodate for the necessary amount of parking, as defined by the <br />MainPlace Specific Plan. As the area intensifies, potential increased <br />use of public transit and alternative means of transportation may <br />alter the amount of on -site parking needed. <br />Al <br />A <br />Parking lot design should facilitate easy movement in and out of the plan <br />area. <br />A. General Guidelines <br />DG - 75 For security reasons, dwelling units should have sight lines <br />out to the parking areas, but these views should be <br />partially filtered through use of appropriate landscaping, <br />such as trees. <br />A dedicated pedestrian walkway through a parking lot to increase pedestrian <br />safety. <br />DG - 76 Parking spaces should be sited to produce the shortest <br />route of travel from a building entrance. <br />DG - 77 Unobstructed visibility and clear delineations between <br />pedestrian paths and vehicular travel aisles should be <br />provided. <br />DG - 78 Parking areas should be located with the development's <br />interior and not along street frontages. <br />DG - 79 Shared use agreements are encouraged for parking lots <br />and garages to make more efficient use of the available <br />parking. <br />MAINPLACE SPECIFIC PLAN 1 4-14 <br />
