After school teachers will distribute flyers directly to students in the after -school
programs, at assemblies, and at parent presentations. Flyers will also be distributed to partner agencies,
including other non -profits, the schools, and private businesses who help promote the program to their
clients and program participants. Flyers are created by staff and must first be approved by the school district.
A registration period is set about 2 months prior to each camp to allow sufficient time for intake and
eligibility screening, which is a time-consuming process that involves a lot of follow-up with parents to get
them to bring in their income verification documents to confirm eligibility. This process will be shared by
ALIBI and Delhi Center staff who will coordinate the different tasks that need to be completed, including
phone calls, review of documents, calculation of income based on grant requirements, and other tasks to
ensure compliance.
Participants will be assigned to appropriate instructors based on age groups and will complete a variety
of activities that will lead to the production of a musical theatrical presentation at the end of each camp.
These activities will include instruction on dance, singing, and theater techniques and choreography with
time set aside for the entire group to work together for rehearsals. Students will learn dance, music and art
history and culture, costuming, and the importance of the arts in the community. Students will learn songs,
scripts, dance moves, choreography, and character development for their specific part in the production.
Older students may get introduced to technical skills such as lighting and audio. Parents and students may
also help with designing and creating backdrops and other stage props. Breakfast, lunch, snack, and recess
are incorporated into the daily schedule.
Social emotional skill development activities will be included so that students learn how to interact with
others from diverse backgrounds in socially and emotionally skilled ways, practice healthy behaviors, and
behave responsibly and respectfully through creative and artistic expression. The expert instructors use
guided questions to prompt students to record and discuss their feelings, thoughts and emotions, which are
used to formulate concepts that are incorporated into the theatrical production and song selections.
