The theatrical production and music selections help students express these concepts and solutions <br />in an artistic format that helps to build life skills, self and body awareness, and self-identity, which helps build <br />resiliency. <br />A minimum of 3 parent learning opportunities will be conducted, through various resource fairs and/or <br />child -parent take home bonding projects. Parents will also assist with the culminating events, such as making <br />costumes and stage props. Students gain positive peer interactions, trust, teamwork and belonging to a <br />community by connecting with peers and adults who demonstrate positive social behaviors, supportive <br />mentors and community engagement. <br />Partners, such as SAPD, Cal Optima, and other experts play an important role in the social emotional skills <br />learning and with the parent workshops. For example, SAPID officers talk to parents about gang awareness <br />and how to tell if their child is becoming involved in a gang and what to do about it. OC Fire Authority helps <br />parents and students learn about a variety of safety issues. Participants and their families are also exposed to <br />resources in the community that help with additional parenting skills and with family financial economic <br />stability. <br />The ALBI instruction strategy is modeled after the California Performing Arts Content Standards, <br />Expanded Learning Programs in Social Emotional Skills and Character Building, and the Quality Standards for <br />Expanded Learning in California. The curriculum builds in a series that begins with foundational skills in <br />performing arts, that are then methodically explored and analyzed through a multitude of activities and <br />projects that merge SEL and end with a culminating performance. Each hands-on learning class encompasses <br />the development of English -Language skills integrating art, music and movement into captivating lessons that <br />promote creative expression. <br />CDBG funds will be used for staff salaries, contractual/professional services, program supplies and facility rental. <br />EXHIBIT A <br />
