Approve and Authorize the Submittal of the Statewide Park Development and Community <br />Revitalization Program Grant Resolution <br />October 1, 2019 <br />Page 2 <br />2. Standard & McFadden New Park — Grant Request $3,600,000 <br />The proposed project develops the existing vacant, unused parcel of land into a new park, <br />which would include a skate area, exercise area, playground area, walking loop, open <br />space and basketball court. The project would also include drought tolerant landscaping, <br />river -rock bioswale, and a picnic area. For security and safety, a complete lighting system <br />will be included as well as fencing to act as a barrier between the park and street. The <br />total project cost is $4,000,000. There is $400,000 of funding identified for this project and <br />a successful grant award of $3,600,000 will allow the project to move forward. <br />3. Raitt/Myrtle New Park— Grant Request $1,640,928 <br />The proposed project develops the existing vacant, unused parcel of land into a new park, <br />which would include a skate area, exercise area, tot lot and butterfly interpretive garden, <br />walking loop, open space, tot lot and restroom. The project would also include drought <br />tolerant landscaping, river -rock bioswale, and a picnic area. The total project cost is <br />$4,000,000. There is $2,359,072 of funding identified for this project from another grant <br />(North OC Watershed Management) and a successful grant award of $1,640,928 will allow <br />the project to move forward. <br />Development of the grant applications involved community input. City staff held a series of <br />community meetings for each proposed projects. City staff incorporated requests from the <br />community into the scope of the project. <br />As a requirement of the application process, the City must submit resolutions (Attachment 1) <br />approving the filing of three applications for the proposed projects no later than the end of <br />October. Concept plans for each of the projects are provided in Attachment 2. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN ALIGNMENT <br />Approval of this item allows the City to meet Goal #6 — Community Facilities & Infrastructure, <br />Objective #1 (Establish and maintain a Community Investment Plan for all City assets). <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no direct fiscal impact with this action, but if awarded the grant, upon successful <br />completion of the project, the City will incur additional costs to maintain the sites. <br />Lisa Rudloff <br />Executive Director <br />Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Agency <br />Exhibits: 1.
