FREE RECORDING PURSUANT TO <br />GOVERNMENT CODE § 27383 <br />LS 7.11.19 <br />RESOLUTION NO.2019-06 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING <br />THE CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS FOR THE <br />PROPERTY LOCATED AT 2415 NORTH BONNIE BRAE <br />(HISTORIC EXTERIOR MODIFICATION APPLICATION <br />NO, 2018-24) <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Historic Resources Commission of the City of Santa Ana <br />hereby finds, determines and declares as follows: <br />A. Craig and Elizabeth Hoffman are requesting approval of Historic Exterior <br />Modification Application No. 2018-24 to allow exterior modifications to the <br />property at 2415 North Bonnie Brae, historically known as the Judge Allen <br />House. <br />B. The Judge Allen House is individually listed as No. 568 on the Santa Ana <br />Register of Historical Properties and was categorized as "Key" in 2014. <br />C. The Judge Allen House has distinctive architectural features of the <br />Minimal Traditional/Colonial Revival style and was built in 1927. <br />Character -defining features of the Judge Allen House include its massing <br />("L" shaped and topped with a shingled roof and shed roof dormer), all <br />exterior materials (clapboard siding, wood trim, exposed rafter tails), roof <br />configuration, original windows (single hung windows with Iamb's tongue <br />details), front facing chimney and distinctive front door. <br />D. Pursuant to Santa Ana Municipal Code Section 30-6, no exterior physical <br />modifications, other than those identified by the Historic Resources <br />Commission for administrative approval by city staff, shall be permitted <br />with respect to a historic structure until the Historic Resources <br />Commission approves such request at a duly noticed public hearing and <br />issues a certificate of appropriateness. The Historic Resources <br />Commission shall issue the certificate of appropriateness upon finding that <br />the proposed modification(s) does not substantially change the character <br />and integrity of the historic property. <br />E. The exterior modifications are proposed in order to accomodate a second <br />story addition and balcony. Exterior modifications include the removal of a <br />non -original second floor addition and the addition of a new balcony with a <br />new shed style roof extending towards the rear, over the master bedroom, <br />F. The legal owner of the property Is the Craig E. Hoffman and Elizabeth <br />Hoffman Living Trust. <br />
