November 11, 2019
Attn: City Clerk
P.O. Box 1988, M30
Santa Ana, CA 92701
Re: Proposed Water Rate Increases
Dear City Clerk Office,
2019 NOY 13 PM 3: 09
CITY OF SANTA ANA
CLERK OF COUNCIL
I would like to submit my formal protest against the proposed Water Rate Increases. I understand that
the city needs to raise rates to generate additional money to cover maintenance costs and services, but I
feel the proposed increases are too high. Without even using a drop of water, my fees will more than
double in cost. Additionally, using the same amount of water my fees will increase due to lowering the
allocation in the tiers. That is a double whammy.
I also object to increasing the rates twice in 2020. That is five increases in 4 Yz years. If the first increase
wasn't so dramatic it would not seem so bad. I also want to point out that the estimator on your
website conveniently doesn't show the full impact of the increases. Since the basic service charge is left
off, the true costs aren't shown. I also don't see the percentage of the increases being shown. I doubt
that is an oversight.
I realize that the majority of citizens won't respond to the proposal and the rates will increase but I felt
the need to express my concerns. Thank you for your time in reading this letter.
Sincerely
VLiolla
Sandy Alves
945 Corrigan Ave
Santa Ana, CA 92706
