Landscape Care and Services <br />The Contractor shall establish a "Landscape Detail and Plant Management Crew" dedicated to <br />providing groundeover, shrub, vine and tree area management, improvement and maintenance <br />services. In addition, the Contractor shall provide extra staff to perform authorized extra work. <br />These extra staffshalt not be part ofotherdedicated crews, but, be extra to help perform additional <br />improvement type work. <br />2A Groundcover Care and Services <br />2.1.1 Maintenance <br />2..1. l.1 The Contractor shall service ground cover/shrub beds on a continuous basis. <br />These areas shall be maintained within their intended bounds and cultivated <br />to 6" depth, edged and/or detailed to keep the beds looking manicured at all <br />times. Groundcovers shall not be allowed to grow into other groundeover <br />beds, shrubs, vines or on trees. All plant material shall be maintained in an <br />attractive and healthy condition. <br />2.1.1.2 Ground cover/shrubs shall not encroach into lawns, shrubs, adjacent <br />desirable bare areas, curbs, wall fixtures, furniture, beneath and/or into other <br />plants, etc. All sites shall be cleaned inunediately following each <br />edging/detailing, including streets and other paved areas. <br />2.2.1 Replanting of Bare Areas <br />2.1.2.1 All bare areas in groundcover beds shall be replanted from flats once per <br />month at the Contractor's expense with like groundcover genus -species at <br />12" on center. <br />2.1.3 Mulching ofBare Areas <br />2.1.3.1 fit all groundcover areas where bare soil is visible or where the groundcover <br />is thin, the Contractor shall apply US Composting Council STA tested and <br />approved compost mulch 3"- 4" minus by 2" thick minimum twice per year <br />(third week of January and July) and as necessary to maintain uniform and <br />complete coverage. Leaf litter and other organic materials other than mulch <br />shall be removed on a continuous basis. <br />2.1.3.2 All bare soil areas shall be cultivated to 6" deep on a weekly basis while <br />awaiting fresh mulch. <br />2.2 Shrub Care and Services <br />2.2.1 Maintenance <br />2.2.Lt The Contractor shall service all shrubs on a continuous basis. Shrubs <br />encroaching into work areas, into site amenities, such as but not limited to, <br />fencing, railing, etc. shall be pruned such that the plants remain in a healthy <br />growing condition.
