Salas, Diana
From:
Sent:
To:
Subject:
Good afternoon —
Rory Strong <roryoryl@gmail.com>
Tuesday, March 17, 2020 12:42 PM
eComment
Moratorium re: Evictions
I am writing to you this afternoon to express my sincere hope that you will consider enacting an immediate
moratorium on evictions within the city of Santa Ana. With all the scrambling that's happening regarding
Covid-19, thousands of people are struggling to hold on to safety and security. While we all await further
updates from the CDC, and while the federal and state governments decide how to support those who have lost
wages during this time, I believe it is absolutely imperative that evictions be put on hold. It is simply not
realistic to expect people in the midst of this chaos to be able to continue life as usual; the consequences of
potential homelessness for thousands come April is far more dire than any delay on rent checks would be.
People are afraid, and many are living paycheck to paycheck, including myself. When that paycheck isn't
coming, in a time of national emergency, I believe it is imperative for people to be able to retain their housing.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
- Rory
