4. The City Manager or his/her designee must give written approval of all TUG <br />assignments involving an increase in pay for the appointee. <br />B. Eligibility <br />1. With the exception of those described in Section 5.713(3) below, regular, part- <br />time civil service employees shall receive TUG assignment pay if the following <br />criteria are met: <br />a. The work assumed encompasses the majority of the typical duties and <br />responsibilities of the vacated position. <br />b. To qualify for TUG assignment pay, employees must serve in an acting <br />capacity in the higher level classification for ten (10) consecutively <br />scheduled working days of six (6) hours each. <br />c. [n computing qualifying service rendered, normally granted holidays will <br />be included in computing actual duty days. <br />d. Employees must requalify for a TUG if the employee has not worked in this <br />specific TUG assignment for a period of eighteen (18) consecutive months. <br />The employee shall only be considered to work in a higher classification if <br />such work is duly and specifically authorized by the employee's <br />Department Head. <br />2. Whenever practicable, the appointing authority shall rotate TUG assigtunents <br />among all qualified employees. <br />3. Employees in the following categories shall not be assigned to TUG work <br />unless specifically authorized by the City Manager: <br />a. Non -permanent employees (probationary, part-time, seasonal, etc.). <br />b. Employees performing work above their regular classification in a training <br />capacity. <br />c. Part-time civil service employees. <br />C. Pa ment <br />1. On the eleventh (l la') consecutively scheduled working day an employee has <br />been serving in a TUG assignment, and for each additional consecutively <br />scheduled working day the employee so serves, he/she shall receive the <br />beginning rate (Step "AA") assigned to the higher classification or the lowest <br />rate in that range which is at least ten (10) salary rate ranges, or approximately <br />2019-2022 MOU City of Santa Ana & SEIU Part -Time Civil Service Employees i Page 22 <br />Im <br />20C-25 Z/ZC-('7,0 <br />
