Results <br />31. What are the high priority housing, economic development or community development needs <br />for the City in the next 5 years? Why? <br />Open -Ended Responses to Question 31: <br />1. Why build more affordable housing or any type of housing if it's only <br />helping the people outside of the Santa Ana. <br />2. homeless prevention and services for the senior homeless community <br />which will triple by 2025 <br />3. Permanent Affordable Housing and transitional shelters focusing on <br />women. <br />4. Not sure, depends population I would think <br />5. Better public transportation, better park management, road and traffic <br />management improvements, effectively dealing with the homeless issue <br />by spreading housing and care throughout the county. <br />6. Supportive housing for chronically homeless households. Homelessness <br />continues to increase in Santa Ana. <br />7. Affordable housing, manufacturing jobs and on -site labor training <br />incentives. <br />8. More places to live. <br />9. Homeless shelters for families and more good paying jobs. We are the 2nd <br />largest populated city in the county with less revenue than Anaheim. <br />Human dignity. It is morally wrong for families or anyone not to have a <br />safe place to live. <br />10. Real affordable housing, section 8, and rent control. <br />1 1 . Many are shopping outside Santa Ana because of the unsafe, dirty, and <br />not enough of nice places to shop at. Many shopping plazas and or <br />buildings need to be updated and need better lighting, security, and or <br />better -quality businesses. <br />12. See above. <br />13. We need to approve the Toll Brothers build at First American Title. We <br />need to approve the build at the 3rd Street Parking Structure because we <br />need the additional retail and hotel tourism tax. We should be doing <br />everything possible to get the YMCA built up for future use with the local <br />performing arts school and not give it away to Caribou Industries. I really <br />wish Caribou would build something and that the city would stop letting <br />the company tie up all the projects to no avail. <br />14. "Addressing overcrowding and dealing with homelessness. This leads to <br />the increase in crimes being seen in the city" <br />15. Vacant lots and buildings need to be addressed.
