Results <br />16. Make it affordable for me to buy a house that is cheaper than my rent, <br />thank you <br />17. Permanent supportive housing, affordable housing, job training and <br />expansion of employment opportunities. <br />18. Connect homeless persons with the county for housing and appropriate <br />services. Stabilize housing costs for low income residents. Foster higher <br />paying job growth. <br />19. Free Tax Preparation Service <br />20. Housing for the chronic and non -chronic homeless. <br />21. Do not displace existing residents, whatever programs or policies that <br />need to be implemented to achieve this goal should be made priority. <br />Gentrification is inevitable (given that SA is probably one of the most <br />affordable cities in OC) but it is happening at lighting pace and pushing <br />longtime residents out. Our diverse residents give the city the culture and <br />appeal that people appreciate and want to be a part of. <br />22. Lower homelessness <br />23. Improve storm drains. Stop urban flooding in downtown Santa Ana area. <br />24. Combatting homelessness and creating more affordable housing. <br />25. Health and wealth education <br />26. Increased crime prevention, homeless shelters, affordable housing, <br />business development, and earthquake retrofit protection of our existing <br />housing stock and businesses. <br />27. Homeless shelters with laundry facilities, trash pickup, portable public <br />toilets and showers are needed since we are a sanctuary city. This will <br />serve the homeless as well as people with substance abuse problems, <br />mentally challenged, prison releases and disadvantaged youth within all <br />categories. <br />28. Clean, safe, AFFORDABLE housing opportunities/units! Community parks or <br />libraries etc. that is comfortable, free, accessible, secure. <br />29. English literacy. Attract outside investment and redevelopment. Stricter <br />enforcement of gangs and vagrants which are actually connected by <br />human and drug trafficking. It's not a secret. Both groups are unique <br />health and safety hazards which not only endanger simple things like <br />walking through the struggling Main St. district, scaring away businesses <br />(current and potential) from laying down roots, and keeping away <br />affluent customers/diners that USED TO visit from surrounding cities, to the <br />detriment of our local businesses and workers. <br />30. Affordable housing for the general population, rapid -rehousing for the <br />homeless population with wraparound services, <br />31. Bring in some boutique hotels downtown. Continue building the arts <br />culture. <br />32. Addressing homelessness within CalWorks families in the welfare to work <br />program.
