The city of Santa Ana is leading in
the number of COVID-19 cases in the county. We know how crucial housing is for the safety of the community
and now more than ever it is important that we protect residents of Santa Ana by enacting bold measures to
protect their housing.
The rent freeze mitigates the financial stress renters in Santa Ana currently feel. We need to ensure that
residents in Santa Ana do not suffer financial catastrophe as we open up our communities post-COVID 19.
I ask you to listen to the renters in Santa Ana and not corporate landlords. Renters make up 56% of Santa Ana
residents; they are they community. I know that tonight you will all discuss amending or rescinding the rent
freeze. I ask that you extend it to match the eviction moratorium. We need to do what's right for the most
vulnerable.
Respectfully,
David Carbajal
