If paleontological resources are <br />encountered during the course of ground disturbance, the Construction Contractor shall stop work in the <br />immediate area of the find, notify the City Public Works Director or designee, and contact a qualified <br />paleontologist to assess the find for scientific significance. If determined to be significant by the qualified <br />paleontologist, the fossil shall be collected from the field. The qualified paleontologist may also make <br />recommendations regarding additional measures, such as paleontological monitoring and <br />documentation. If found, scientifically significant resources shall be prepared to the point of <br />identification, identified to the lowest taxonomic level possible, cataloged, and curated into the <br />permanent collections of a museum repository. If scientifically significant paleontological resources are <br />collected, a report of findings shall be prepared to document the collection. <br />City of Santa Ana Public <br />Works Director/ <br />Construction <br />Contractor <br />During ground- <br />disturbing construction <br />activities <br /> <br />3.8 GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS <br />There are no significant impacts to greenhouse gas emissions. <br />3.9 HAZARDS AND HAZARDOUS MATERIALS <br />Mitigation Measure HAZ-1: Hazardous Materials Testing and Removal. During Project design and <br />construction, the Design Engineer and the Construction Contractor shall adhere to the requirements <br />listed below. Documentation of compliance with these requirements shall be provided to the City of <br />Santa Ana (City) Public Works Director or designee. <br />• Treated wood waste will either be disposed of as a hazardous waste or tested and handled in <br />accordance with California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 22, Division 4.5, Chapter 34 <br />• If not tested for lead and chromium prior to removal, yellow traffic striping shall be managed <br />consistent with California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Standard Special Provision <br />14.11.12, Remove Yellow Traffic Stripe and Pavement Marking with Hazardous Waste Residue, or the <br />equivalent. <br />• Affected pole-mounted transformers will be removed by Southern California Edison personnel or <br />qualified contractors. <br />• A hazardous building materials survey, including asbestos-containing materials and lead-based paint, <br />will be conducted on the Fairview Street bridge, as well as any additional structures to be disturbed. <br />Hazardous building materials will be removed and disposed of consistent with the South Coast Air <br />Quality Management District (SCAQMD) Rules and Regulations and the California Health and Safety <br />Code. <br />• Any suspect hazardous waste found during construction activities will be handled, treated, or disposed <br />of consistent with local, State, and federal laws. <br />Design Engineer/ <br />Construction <br />Contractor <br />During Project design <br />and construction <br />
