TASK 4-13: MEDIA RELATIONS OUTREACH (OCT — DEC 2020 <br />Objective: <br />Apply the "Three Cs" of media relations — 1) Communicate news about the ReadyOC <br />campaign and emergency preparedness efforts, 2) Capitalize on news of the day pertaining to <br />readiness, and 3) Create news about the ReadyOC campaign and emergency preparedness <br />efforts throughout Orange County. <br />Task Description: <br />Implement a monthly effort to identify, craft, coordinate and deliver stories about preparedness <br />in Orange County in ways that help secure editorial coverage by print, digital/online, radio and <br />television news outlets. Efforts will also be made to offer county resources — Fire and PD <br />chiefs, subject matter experts, elected officials — to reporters and producers when news <br />attention is trained on emergencies and threats. At least one story relating to ReadyOC and/or <br />preparedness will be crafted per sub -task. Story pitches will reflect seasonal occurrences, <br />including National Fire Prevention Week, the Great Shakeout earthquake preparedness day, <br />and Holiday Safety. <br />Responsibilities: <br />WBC shall: <br />a. Develop the initiative and seek plan (and creative, if needed) approval from the Santa <br />Ana Project Manager <br />Santa Ana shall: <br />a. Approve plan and activities <br />Completion Criteria: <br />This task is considered complete upon the completion of the support period and when the <br />Santa Ana Project Manager signs the task completion letter.
