The program is
imarily run by Academic Advisors, who work directly with youth on a day-to-day basis. Academic Advisors meet with studen
track their progress towards their goals; incorporate nationally -developed curriculum into programming targeted to youth i
r service area; and help students to understand college application and testing requirements and work towards meeting
ose requirements. For example, advisors track students' A-G high school graduation requirements to make sure they are on
Ick to attend UC/CSU, understand application and testing procedures, identify financial aid opportunities and commitments
ode to attend college, and manage other deadlines associated with college attendance. All College Bound students are
:roduced to opportunities beyond four year institutions: community college, trade schools, military, and other alternatives.
(visors also maintain an extensive list of scholarships and grants with deadlines and requirements, matching students to
propriate opportunities, and we provide FAFSA and scholarship workshops and application assistance to help them secure
uncial resources. For first -generation college students, whose families are often unfamiliar with the college application
ocess, these services demystify the process of applying for admission and make college an attainable goal. Finally, we
pplement this academic and practical assistance with college tours, field trips, and motivational guest speakers.
objectives of these activities are to help youth: (1) envision college as an attainable goal; (2) create a road map for
eving their academic and career goals; (3) develop the skills needed to attain those goals; and (4) construct a plan to
ride clarity into the cost and options for financing advanced education. As discussed later in this application, many of the
ents we serve are first generation college students who need assistance understanding the difficult process of applying to
EXHIBIT A
