DISCUSS AND CONSIDER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO DIRECT <br />STAFF AS APPROPRIATE, TO PROVIDE PUBLIC EDUCATION, FINE -BASED <br />ENFORCEMENT AND PREVENTION SERVICES RELATED TO THE USE OF <br />ILLEGAL FIREWORKS THROUGH REMAINDER OF JUNE AND JULY THIS <br />YEAR - Councilmember Solorio <br />Councilmember Solorio provided direction to city staff. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Steve Gallegos spoke in support of mitigation plan, but in opposition of imposing <br />a $1,000 fine. <br />Carla Juarez spoke regarding Item 85B, urges council to invest in youth <br />services and various other topics. <br />Lisa Gonzalez -Solomon spoke in support of collaboration between the city and all <br />school districts to fund youth programs. <br />Clerk of the Council reported out electronic comments received. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Olga spoke regarding the public comment process, expressed support of a police <br />oversight committee and spoke on various other topics. <br />90A. CITY COUNCILMEMBER COMMENTS <br />Councilmember Solorio expressed appreciation towards City staff and reminded <br />the community that masks are recommended to help stop the spread of COVID- <br />19. <br />Councilmember Penaloza expressed appreciation towards city staff and wished <br />everyone a Happy Father's Day. <br />Councilmember Mendoza expressed appreciation towards City staff. <br />Councilmember Sarmiento expressed appreciation towards staff, council and the <br />public.
