Orozco, Norma
From:Amir Baum <amir.baum@gmail.com>
Sent:Sunday, January 31, 2021 7:59 PM
To:Mendoza, Nelida; Bacerra, Phil; Penaloza, David; thaivphan@gmail.com;
jessie@votejessielopez.com; johnathan@hernandezforsantaana.org; eComment;
Sarmiento, Vicente
Subject:Community Choice Energy agenda item for City Council Meeting - Tuesday, 2.2.21
Dear Mayor and City Council Members,

Thank you so much for considering joining the OC Power Authority's Community Choice Energy program. I
support this program, because it will save customers money, brings revenue to our community by keeping our
rate payer dollars in Santa Ana, and allow us to convert to renewable energy faster.

CCE’s bring millions and savings to each city: Monterey Bay Customer Savings: $14M in 2019; on track to
deliver $19M in savings this year, Clean Power SF has saved customers $11 million, Irvine is looking at $10.6
million in annual net revenue and $7.7 million in annual savings for Irvine consumers- while reducing
emissions equal to recovering 78,000 cars off the road, and San Mateo’s CCE has saved customers over $18
million and reduced emissions equal to taking 30,000 cars off the road.

When Santa Ana joins with other cities, the program would generate $92 million per year in revenue by 2031.
This money can be used for COVID relief as so many cities are doing now, EV charging stations, subsidies for
EV vehicles, green public transportation-- all sorts of programs to green OC. Imagine a future like this for Santa
Ana where we truly build a more sustainable and clean energy future for our economy and out children's future.
Don't we owe them that much to safeguard their futures?

Let’s do this for our city. It is a moral imperative and critical for the City of Santa Ana to serve as a leader and
strong example with the Cities of Irvine, Fullerton and Huntington Beach by joining the OC Power Authority's
Community Choice Energy Program. Our climate crisis is real and is negatively impacting the health and safety
of Santa Ana city residents and businesses here and now. Based on the urgency please do the right thing and
support community choice energy now.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Amir Baum
6
