PUBLIC COMMENT <br />Comments will be held during the beginning of the meeting for ALL comments on <br />agenda items. Members of the public may only provide comment on items on the Special <br />Meeting Agenda. <br />OR PARTICIPATE DURING THE MEETING BY SELECTING ZOOM (Camera icon) NEXT <br />TO THE PUBLIC COMMENT TITLE FOUND AT santa-ana.primegov.com/public/portal. <br />OR Call 669-900-6833, Meeting ID: 981 9375 6784. <br />The public can begin joining the speaker queue at 6:00 p.m. for this Special meeting. Once a <br />caller has entered the meeting, they will be placed in a holding queue. Callers will be <br />prompted to speak in the order received. After the Recording Secretary confirms the last <br />three digits of the caller's phone number or Zoom ID and unmutes them, the caller must press <br />*6 or microphone icon to speak. Callers are encouraged, but not required, to identify <br />themselves by name. Each caller will be provided three (3) minutes to speak. <br />• Speaker in oppostion to item 1 and various other topics. <br />• Victor Mendez spoke regarding public saftey issues and various other topics. <br />• Derek Smith with UFCW 324 spoke in support of item 2. <br />• Mathew Bell with UFCW 324 spoke in support of item 2. <br />I BUSINESS CALENDAR <br />1. RESOLUTION CONDEMNING THE INSURRECTION AND VIOLENCE THAT <br />OCCURRED AT THE U.S. CAPITOL ON JANUARY 6, 2021 AND CALLING FOR A <br />PEACEFUL TRANSITION OF POWER <br />Recommended Action: Adopt a resolution condemning the insurrection and violence <br />that occurred at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021 and calling for a peaceful transition <br />of power. <br />City Attorney Sonia Carvalho provided a brief presentation. <br />City Manager Kristine Ridge provided a brief presentation regarding the draft <br />resolution before council. <br />Councilmember Lopez condemned the violence that occurred at the capital and <br />expressed the importance of identifying the problem and clearly state it in the <br />resolution. <br />Councilmember Phan spoke in support of the item and requested an amendment with the <br />revised language: <br />1. Adding the language; white supremacists and neo-Nazis extremists <br />2. Adding a whereas clause discussing the theft of devices and documents compromising <br />national security; and <br />City Council Meeting 2 01 /12/2021 <br />
