phone, notes, e-mail, letters, text messages, <br />social networks, etc.) unrelated to course work or <br />official College matters; providing or accepting <br />rides; providing or offering housing; selling or <br />buying anything, even of nominal value; providing <br />alcohol or drugs to students; inappropriate <br />touching; and engaging in sexual contact and/or <br />sexual relations. This is not an inclusive or <br />exhaustive list of inappropriate behavior. <br />If a student witnesses or is made aware of a <br />College employee's participation in an <br />inappropriate relationship with a student, we ask <br />that the incident be reported to the Executive <br />Director/Campus President and/or the Answer <br />Program immediately. <br />Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention <br />UEI College is committed to maintaining an <br />alcohol and drug -free environment for students <br />and employees. Our culture, driven by a <br />commitment to excellence in all areas, has no <br />room for, and is incompatible with, substance <br />abuse in any form. Accordingly, as a matter of <br />policy, our campuses prohibit the following: <br />Reporting to campus under the influence of <br />alcohol or illegal drugs or substances, <br />including illegally obtained prescription <br />drugs. <br />• Reporting to campus under the influence of <br />legal prescription or non-prescription drugs, if <br />doing so could impair judgment or motor <br />functions or place persons or property in <br />jeopardy. <br />The illegal use, sale, manufacture, <br />possession, distribution, transfer, purchase, <br />or storage of alcoholic beverages or drugs on <br />campus premises, or in automobiles or any <br />other vehicle parked on campus premises. <br />Any violation of these policies will result in <br />appropriate disciplinary action up to and including <br />expulsion, even for a first offense. Violations of <br />the law will also be referred to the appropriate law <br />enforcement authorities. <br />UEI College distributes information on Drug and <br />Alcohol Abuse Prevention to all enrolled students <br />and to new students as an available resource. <br />Despite current educational and prevention <br />efforts, some students make high -risk choices <br />around alcohol and other drug use. UEI College <br />makes available a referral service for drug abuse <br />rehabilitation programs. Students may refer <br />themselves to the counseling service or may be <br />referred by the school. Faculty and student peers <br />have an obligation to act on concerns regarding <br />- <br />alcohol or drug abuse or dependency when <br />encountered in the student. Any student who <br />needs counseling or help with substance or <br />alcohol abuse should consult the Executive <br />Director/Campus President. <br />No Weapons Policy <br />UEI College prohibits all persons who enter <br />school property from carrying weapons of any <br />kind regardless of whether the person is licensed <br />to carry the weapon or not. Failure to abide by <br />this policy will lead to dismissal from UEI College. <br />Appeal Process <br />Students have the right to appeal any action by <br />the school (termination from program, etc.). To do <br />so, the student must submit a written appeal <br />within 48 hours to the Executive Director/ <br />Campus President, stating the basis for the <br />appeal and include any relevant documentation <br />to support the request. The appeal will be <br />reviewed and responded to within two class days <br />from the date the appeal was filed. When an <br />appeal is granted an academic plan will be <br />presented to the student. Students who have <br />been terminated/withdrawn from the program, <br />including having been auto -dropped for a <br />violation of the attendance policy, will be required <br />to complete the Return of Federal Financial Aid <br />Funds process prior to re-entering their program <br />if the appeal is granted <br />Statement of Non -Discrimination <br />UEI College does not discriminate in its education <br />programs and activities (which extends to <br />employment and admission) on the basis of race, <br />color, religion, national or ethnic origin, sex, <br />sexual orientation, gender identity or status, <br />marital, parental, familial, veteran or military <br />service status, age, disability, or any other basis <br />protected by federal, state or local law. <br />Complaints of sexual harassment should be <br />reported to the Title IX Coordinator in accordance <br />with the Title IX Complaint/Grievance Procedure <br />Policy located in this school catalog.
