Dental terminology and infection control practices will be presented with a <br />focus on an introduction to expanded duties and regulations. Students will be supervised and <br />evaluated on skills acquired in the program content courses. Students may <br />perform phlebotomy, injections, patient record maintenance, vital sign <br />measurement, patient exam preparation, and/or other medical assistant <br />duties as assigned by the physician, on -site supervisor, or externship <br />coordinator. They will practice keyboarding, <br />apply positive communication skills, practice diagnostic procedures and <br />perform vital sign procedures. They will learn first aid, rehabilitative <br />procedures, the role of the medical assistant in the health community, and <br />team member responsibilities.
