accredited college with an additional sixty (60) or more educational/training units shall, upon approval <br />of the Police Chief, be designated as a Senior Police Sergeant III and shall be paid at a rate set thirty <br />(30) salary rate ranges (approximately 15%) above his or her then current base monthly salary step in <br />the Police Sergeant class. <br />(Vill) Career Development Program — Non -Sworn: An incumbent in one of the classes designated as <br />"non -sworn" covered by this MOU shall earn an additional amount as follows: <br />A Upon attainment of an Associate in Arts Degree, employee will be paid at a rate set <br />ten (10) salary rate ranges (approximately 5%) above his or her then current base <br />monthly salary step. For employees hired after July 1, 2017, the pay in this paragraph <br />shall only apply to employees in classifications, which do not require a degree. <br />B Upon attainment of a Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree, an employee will be paid <br />at a rate set an additional ( 15) salary rate ranges ( approximately 7. 5%) above his <br />or her then current base monthly salary step. If the employee obtains a Bachelor's <br />Degree without attaining an Associate in Arts Degree, he or she will be paid at a rate <br />set ten (10) salary rate ranges (approximately 5%) above his or her then current base <br />monthly salary step. For employees hired after July 1, 2017, the pay in this paragraph <br />shall only apply to employees in classifications, which do not require a degree for any <br />employee hired after July 1, 2017. <br />C Upon attainment of a Masters in Arts Degree, an employee will be paid at a rate set <br />twenty (20) rate ranges (approximately 10%) above his or her then current base <br />monthly salary step. This pay is not stacked with the pay in paragraphs A and B above. <br />For employees hired after July 1, 2017, the pay in this paragraph shall only apply <br />employees in classifications, which do not require a degree. <br />(IX) Career Development Pay — Sworn: Effective at the beginning of the pay period following City Council <br />approval, sworn Employees hired on or after January 1, 2014 shall be eligible to receive Career <br />Development Pay as follows: <br />A Level One - Upon attainment of an Associate in Arts Degree employees will be paid <br />at a rate set ten (10) salary rate ranges (approximately 5%) above his or her then <br />current base monthly salary step. <br />B Level Two - Upon attainment of an Associate in Arts Degree and an additional thirty <br />(30) educational units toward a declared Bachelor s degree, employees will be paid <br />at a rate set an additional (10) salary rate ranges approximately 5%) for a total of 20 <br />salary rate ranges (approximately 10%) above his or her then current base monthly <br />salary step. If such employee obtains a Bachelor's Degree without attaining an <br />Associate in Arts Degree, he or she will be paid at a rate set twenty (20) salary rate <br />ranges (approximately 10%) above his or her then current base monthly salary step. <br />C Level Three - Upon attainment of a Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree employees <br />will be paid at a rate set an additional (10) salary rate ranges (approximately 5%) for <br />a total of 30 salary rate ranges (approximately 15%) above his or her then current <br />base monthly salary step. <br />(PMA) Santa Ana Police Management Association: <br />Effective July 1, 2019, all eligible members of PMA currently receiving Educational Incentives listed in Section <br />(as described below) as of July 1, 2019 will be "grandfathered in" to continue to receive those incentives but <br />no other members of the association will be able to participate in this educational incentive. In no event shall <br />the application of this Educational Incentive program result in an employee being eligible to earn more than <br />ten percent (10%) above his or her then current base monthly salary step. <br />(I) FBI National Academy. Any employee covered by this MOU who successfully completes the FBI <br />National Academy shall be paid at a rate set ten (10) salary rate ranges (approximately 5%) above <br />his or her then current base monthly salary step. <br />(II) California Command College. Any employee covered by this MOU who successfidly completes <br />the California Command College shall be paid at a rate set ten (10) salary rate ranges <br />(approximately 5%) above his or her then current base monthly salary step. <br />(Ill) LAPD Leadership Program. Any employee covered by this MOU who successfully completes the <br />LAPD Leadership Program shall be paid at a rate set five (5) salary rate ranges (approximately <br />2.5%) above his or her then current base monthly salary step. <br />Page 20 of 26 <br />
