PUBLIC COMMENT — Public comments will be held during the beginning of the meeting for <br />ALL comments on agenda and non -agenda items, except for public hearings. Comments for <br />public hearings will take place after the hearing is opened. <br />MINUTES: Partial public comments taken out of order and considered after roll call was taken: <br />• Tania Castaneda, Municipal Manager, with Republic Services spoke regarding Item 31 and <br />indicated why their company would be the best partner to work with the city. <br />• Adam Overton with Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE), spoke in support of <br />Item 30. <br />• Victor Mendez concurred that City is leading the way in public participation during the <br />pandemic state and spoke on various other topics. <br />• Frank Gutierrez thanked council for his appointment to the Arts and Culture Commission and <br />spoke on various other topics. <br />• Shauna manager with Rite Aide spoke in support of Item 30. <br />• Marlyn Cendejas spoke regarding the homeless encampment near El Sol Academy. <br />• Jennifer Ward, Sr. Vice President of Government Affairs and Advocacy for the Orange County <br />Business Council, spoke in opposition of Item 30. <br />• Carlos Viramontes with the Latino Food Industry Association spoke in opposition to Item 30. <br />• Victor Rojas spoke in support of Item 30. <br />Pledge of allegiance, invocation, and ceremonial presentations considered out of order after speaker <br />Victor Rojas. <br />• Ray Diaz commended Mayor Sarmiento for having a voice for the community, spoke in support <br />of Item 30, and various other topics. <br />• Sarmenta Mendoza spoke in support of Item 30. <br />• Nathan Taft spoke in support of Item 32. <br />• Dale Heivig thanked Executive Director Lisa Rudloff and Ron Ono regarding Item 19 regarding <br />Park Santiago improvements, requested Item 28 be placed on hold for reasons cited, and <br />recommended that the oath of office be changed if Item 29 is approved. <br />• Carolina Mendez with College Democrats of California State University of Fullerton and <br />CHISPA member, spoke in support of Item 30. <br />• Manny Escamilia spoke in support of Item 30, asked for restoration funds for mural and <br />memorials located at the Memorial Community Center and park, noted the importance of long- <br />term data storage and expressed support for Item 32. <br />• Tanya Navarro spoke regarding the homeless encampment and encouraged the city to find a <br />better solution. <br />• Ada Tamayo spoke in support of Item 30. <br />• Speaker Gonzalez called regarding property taken from the unhoused. <br />• Kathy Aleman spoke regarding the homeless encampment on Ross Street. <br />• Nick Buro spoke in opposition of Item 30. <br />• Austin Lynch organizing director with United Local Eleven, spoke in support of Item 30. <br />• Clerk of the Council, Daisy Gomez, reported out on correspondence received. <br />City Council 6 3/2/2021 <br />
