Flooding: Emergency Response <br />Obtain information on flood location: <br />System size. Determine if bypass (manual retractable screen), <br />culvert, catch basin (ARS/CPS), or if stormdrain line <br />If Catch Basin, determine <br />if it has ARS/CPS <br />Using a shovel, remove debris <br />within ARS so it can open. <br />Remediates? If not, continue. <br />If it has CPS, feel for debris. <br />Dislodge potential blockage. <br />Remediates? If not, continue. <br />Feel for outlet pipe. <br />Dislodge potential blockage <br />Remediates? If not, continue. <br />Go to downstream manhole <br />to see if line is plugged there <br />Mobilize team to flood site. Conduct Tailgate Safety <br />Meeting. Don PPE. Implement Traffic Control (if necessary) <br />Confined space entry permit & safety meeting. <br />Test atmosphere with 4-gas meter (if necessary) <br />Set up tripod with duel winches and enterthe system <br />(if necessary) <br />Localize problem area <br />If Storm Drain Line <br />Determine line size & type <br />Determine best Jetter head <br />Hydrojet line upstream. <br />(see flow chart for Jetting) <br />Vacuum water out if neccessary <br />Transport waste to bin, OB yard <br />orTSDF <br />Submit reports, photographs, <br />Manifests to City <br />If Culvert/bypass <br />See if it has MRS <br />(Manual retractable screen) <br />Observe exiting water. <br />Remove lodged debris from MRS <br />Remediates? If not, continue. <br />If too much water, divert <br />water elsewhere using pumps. <br />Remediates? If not, continue <br />If not flowing, inspect sidewalk <br />manholes.
