This bid does not make sense at a time California cities are trying to reduce
their carbon footprint and make decisions that are both sustainable and equitable. Athens will
increase the landfill and create more pollution. Located in City of Industry over 30 miles from Santa
Ana, Athens would increase vehicle traffic significantly over CR&R (a local Santa Ana company)
which will lead to both higher emissions and more air pollution. The Athens bid would also contribute
to higher landfill disposal (20,000 tons per year higher).

The Athens bid would also increase rates for residents of Santa Ana's multi-unit housing communities
- as much as 1/3rd higher.

Please reconsider this matter. CR&R team offers the best service for the price andalso resides in
Santa Ana. We do not support the recommendation for Athens based in LA. Athens will increase the
landfill and create more pollution.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Margo Allen Finlayson, MBA
member: Climate Reality OC, Sierra Club Angeles Chapter OC Group, OC for Climate Action, OC
Clean Power, OC Interfaith Coalition for the Environment

1
