0:0,
Honorable Mayor Vicente Sarmiento & City Council A10
City of Santa Ana (v'111[[
Civic Center Plaza,
Santa
UL
Santa Ana, CA 92701 L TUFIA
CONTEMPORARY MMOM CAFETERIA
Subject: Selection of a Franchise Waste Hauler for Residential and Commercial Solid Waste Management Services
Dear Mayor Sarmiento,
On behalf of Cafe Cultura, it is my pleasure to submit a letter of recommendation on behalf of Athens Services. We
created Cafe Cultura to commemorate our Latino roots and give it a modern twist without losing where we came from.
We wanted to provide our tradition breakfast plates that we remember eating as little kids in our grandma's house back
in Mexico or drinking that amazing cafe de olla that our grandparents would proudly make. We wanted to evolve with
the times and bring to DTSA a restaurant/cafe that would make all the locals feel at home and drive in the new business
to experience what our traditions have to offer
As a business owner in the City of Santa Ana, I urge the City Council to select a waste management service provider that
is committed to providing consistent, personalized and quality service at a fair and affordable cost to the residents and
local businesses of the city of Santa Ana. Your selection will have a long-lasting effect on our community and will directly
affect every single one of your constituents, including local businesses and their employees, many who are also residents
of Santa Ana.
We have witnessed firsthand Athens' exceptional service as their direct customer in the City of Azusa, where our second
location is located. Athens does not hesitate to go the extra mile. In fact, at a time when we were having challenges finding
a contractor to provide power washing services in our outdoor dining area, Athens was quick to respond and to get our
area clean. Their team is very easy to work with, and very quick to respond to our needs. This is something I urge the
council to consider as you make your decision.
As a family -owned business, Athens has the ability to adapt and respond quickly even when faced with unexpected
challenges. This was evident during the pandemic, Athens did not cut any of their collection services, showed extreme
flexibility, and worked to provide creative and effective solutions to all their customers, which was critical for our business.
As a result of our long-standing partnership, we have forged a strong relationship with the Athens' management team and
they have continuously shown their commitment to our organization.
Given Athens' exemplary reputation and continuing commitment to serve the needs of large and small businesses, we
are confident that Athens will be the ideal choice as the city's waste hauler.
Sincerely,
Luis Anaya
CFO/VP of operations
Cafe Cultura
