Orozco, Norma
From:
Sent:
To:
Subject:
Dear Maror and City Council,
James Kendrick drags@att.net>
Tuesday, August 17, 2021 1:42 PM
eComment
Solid Waste Contract
As a resident of Santa Ana for 47 years and a business owner, I believe it's time for a change in our solid waste contract
believe that Waste Management has for a long time become too complacent and the fees are too high, and they are
missing the boat on some neighborhood and city commitments.
After watching several City Council meeting and personally met with Republic Services, I believe they are responcable to
be Santa Ana's new solid waste hauler. They have promised to use all electric power trucks in the future and the first in
California, lower all residential and commercial rates and be more involved with city events and the Arts.
As a retired union member I asked the Republic Services if they would latteraly transfer all Santa Ana Waste Management
employees over to Republic services and secure all benefits and seniority, in which they said they would since they are all
teamsters in the same union.
I believe Public Works has recommended Athens for this contract but I was not impressed just because they had the
lowest bid and would have to haul it further away and cause more pollution, I don't believe they can fulfill the contract and
in order to do that, they would be increasing their fees.
In closing I highly suggest that the Mayor and Council choose Republic Services as our next solid waste hauler.
Sincerly,
James Kendrick
Mike Rogers
1115 Freemans Street
Santa Ana CA 92703
1 rags@a tt.net
(714)658-3455
