PUBLIC COMMENT — Public comments will be held during the beginning of the meeting for <br />ALL comments on agenda and non -agenda items, with the exception of public hearings. <br />Comments for public hearings will take place after the hearing is opened. <br />NOTE: Redistricting Public Hearing Item #16 will be heard at 7:00 p.m. <br />MINUTES: Larry Gonzales Rivas spoke on the city arts sculpture that was unveiled a <br />couple of weeks ago. Thanked Mayor and council members who attended. Encouraged <br />council to continue to foster funding public art. Invited residents to visit the coyote statute <br />that is located across from Abraham Lincoln Elementary. <br />Nathaniel Greensides gave acknowledgment to the land upon which we are sitting and <br />conducting our business that once belonged to the Acjachemen and Tongva peoples. <br />Spoke on Black History month and the wrongs that are still being perpetuated today. <br />Wished all a Happy Lunar New year, Happy Black History month and read last two stanzas <br />from Maya Angelou's poem, `And Still I Rise". <br />Patricia Boe with Moms Demand Action spoke in support of item 19. Thanked <br />Councilmember Lopez and Councilmember Mendoza for their request to consider item <br />and asked council to support ordinance. <br />Lorrie Ortiz with Moms Demand Action spoke in support of item 19. Thanked Mayor and <br />council for their leadership. <br />Clerk of the Council Daisy Gomez reported out on correspondence received. <br />Victor Mendez expressed concern with the amount of money being awarded for item 9. <br />Urged council to pull and reconsider item and involve local business. Expressed concern <br />with Closed Session items 2A and 2B. Lastly, spoke in appreciation of the arts. <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve staff recommendations on the following <br />Consent Calendar Items: 6 through 15. <br />6.
