The replacements are being <br />performed to upgrade the oity'aaging infrastructure, some ofwhich was constructed in the 1930'o. <br />New water and sewer pipes along with new valves, appurtenances, and meters will be installed. The <br />project also includes the replacement of a 10-inch sewer under the NCTD railroad tracks by trenchless <br />methods. The project's challenges include working directly adjacent to the beach, high groundwater/ <br />tidal influence, utility oroan|ngs, relocating sewers that currently run under private bui|d|ngo, and <br />rehabilitating existing sewer manholes.
