Signage and Wayfinding Plan Utilizing grant funding from the Port of San Diego and SANDAG, the City of National City selected Kimley- Horn to design a plan to improve the vehicular and pedestrian navigation of the City's roadways with a focus on the spirit and the vitality of the community. The implemented signage and wayfinding elements inform the public about places of interest including recreational areas, transit stations, facilities, and neighborhoods to provide a sense of place to residents and visitors alike. The scope of the project included the planning, design, construction administration, and implementation of arrival, gateway, directional, and interpretive signage, as well as decorative banners throughout the City's Historic Downtown, Old Town, and Marina Neighborhoods. The project also improves pedestrian, bicycle, and transit connectivity throughout the Historic Downtown, Old Town, and Marina neighborhoods by clearly designating paths of travel for pedestrians. Clear, safe, and direct paths of travel were identified to the City's numerous points of interest from city entry points and transit stations. Additionally, the project has facilitated access by walking, bicycling, and transit for persons of all ages, income, and ability. El Toyon Park El Toyon Park is a heavily used 25-acre community park in the City of National City, California. The park includes the El Toyon Recreation Center, basketball courts, tennis courts, baseball and football fields, picnic areas, a playground, a horseshoe pit, a dog park and an artificial turf soccer field. Kimley-Horn was selected by the City of National City to assess and update the park's aging landscape irrigation infrastructure. By utilizing extensive on -site investigation, Kimley-Horn was able to recommend both cost and maintenance related design efficiencies while maintaining the specifications set forth in the State of California's water efficiency ordinance.
