On -Call Engineering Services RFP No. 23-030 4 <br />City of Santa Ana, South Main Street Corridor Improvements Santa Ana. CA <br />Kimley-Horn was selected by the City of Santa Ana to help <br />transform the existing South Main Street into a revitalized <br />corridor. The project involved creating solutions for the <br />following issues: street beautification, traffic safety, walkability, <br />bike circulation, environmental sustainability, security, and <br />neighborhood amenities. Specific goals for the project were: <br />re -branding the South Main Street Business District with a <br />consistent theme to promote the neighborhood for future <br />developments; enhancing streetscape aesthetics with <br />- <br />landscape and hardscape features to create a more inviting <br />and pleasant urban area; improving street walkable paths with <br />pedestrian safety, curb ramps, crosswalks, and other ADA all AMA <br />features; encouraging the use of alternative transportation such as walking, biking, and public transit; <br />improving accessibility to local businesses by providing on street parking; creating a low impact and <br />sustainable design for improvements while considering environmental issues; and enhancing corridor <br />safety and security by adding high visibility crosswalks and pedestrian level street lights. <br />Key Staff: Darren Adrian, Othman Elmezain and Jason Melchor <br />Client: Sean Thomas, City of Santa Ana 1714.647.5655 1 sthomas5(a)Santa-ana.org <br />Dates: 2017 — 2021 <br />City of Santa Ana, Santa Ana Boulevard & 5th Street Protected Bike Lane PS&E Santa Ana CA <br />Kimley-Horn provided engineering design services for Santa <br />Ana Boulevard and 5th Street protected bike project in the <br />City of Santa Ana. The project included two and half miles <br />of protected bike lane facilities along various streets in the <br />City's downtown area. This project is one of first protected <br />bike lane projects of this magnitude in Orange County. The <br />project consisted of bike signals, pedestrian walkway <br />improvements, traffic calming features, ADA improvements, <br />signing and striping, and landscape and irrigation design. <br />The project has involved extensive coordination during the <br />design phase with all stakeholders including the Orange <br />County Transportation Authority for the OC Streetcar project <br />within the same area.
