Engineering Services <br />The City is specifically cautioned that unit prices for construction have been and remain unpredictable <br />and escalating and we advise that the City consider contingencies and engage in independent contractor <br />pricing exercises. Consultant will exercise reasonable efforts to overcome the challenges presented by <br />current circumstances. <br />Task 18 — Specifications <br />Kimley-Horn will prepare technical specifications based upon the latest Special Provisions boilerplate <br />supplied by the City. Bid items, required by the plans or otherwise needed to accomplish project <br />construction will be thoroughly described in the General Provisions and included in the contractor's bid <br />list. Technical provisions will contain adequate detail in coordination with the plans and will reference the <br />Task 19 — Potholing <br />The Kimley-Horn team will provide vacuum excavation potholes to assist in identifying utilities where <br />conflicts may exist with existing utilities. Potholing information will be used to identify potential conflicts <br />with proposed roadway improvements. Additional potholes, if needed, will be an optional item per each <br />pothole. Once the utility data has been collected, the pothole will be restored to its previous condition <br />using native backfill and the appropriate surface restoration materials. We assume traffic control for <br />potholing will be based on the WATCH manual. Preparation of traffic control plans is excluded from this <br />task. <br />Task 20 — Bid Support <br />Kimley-Horn will provide services during the bid stage by attending a pre -bid meeting and responding in <br />writing to requests for clarifications. We will assist the City in the issuance of Addenda to the bid <br />package. Other design changes, such as those for the contractor's preference, are not included in this <br />scope. Changes in the overall design concept are not accounted for in this scope. <br />Task 21 — Construction Support <br />Kimley-Horn will assist the City during the construction period by attending meetings, answering <br />contractor's RFIs, reviewing submittals, reviewing shop drawings, conducting field observations and <br />preparing addendums and clarifications. This also includes assisting in interpretation of bid documents, <br />review of change orders and review of changed conditions in the field. We will prepare record drawings <br />by updating the approved design drawings based on one set of redline markups provided by the <br />contractor, project inspector or City staff. Independent verification of as -built drawings is not included in <br />this scope. Significant deviations from the original design documents are not accounted for in this scope. <br />The purpose of the record drawings is to create a deliverable that will represent the built condition for the <br />City's records as recorded by the contractor. <br />The Kimley-Horn team has no control over the contractor's or construction manager's means, methods, <br />techniques, sequence, schedule, and other activities.
