On -Call Engineering Services <br />BOLIVAR PARK STORMWATER CAPTURE, Lakewood, CA <br />Tetra Tech was contracted by the City of Lakewood to <br />evaluate two potential site locations for the development <br />of the Lakewood Stormwater and Runoff Capture Project: <br />Mayfair Park site and the Bolivar Park site. Tetra Tech <br />provided a Project Engineering Study Report (PESR) that <br />represented 10% design completion level and described <br />the evaluation of the two sites with all site investigation, <br />hydrology and hydraulic, and water quality data and <br />analyses to provide a recommendation for site selection. <br />The Bolivar Park project consisted of an air -inflated <br />rubber dam diversion system to redirect all urban runoff <br />and stormwater runoff from the Del Amo channel through a pre-treatment system to remove trash, debris, and <br />sediment. A pump station and drainage pipeline will then convey the water into a large, buried multi -chambered <br />storage/infiltration facility. The stormwater collected in the underground reservoir will be treated and used to irrigate <br />the parWs landscaped areas. The system will monitor the weather conditions and the facility through a secured <br />cloud -based system. The goal of the project was to not only help the City comply with the metals Total Maximum <br />Daily Loads (TMDLs), as presented in the Los Cerritos Channel Watershed Management Program, but also <br />provide additional benefits such as revitalized park infrastructure and augmentation of local water supplies. As one <br />of the first cities to receive stormwater funding to support Caltrans with stormwater compliance units, the success of <br />this project serves as a model for other agencies to follow. <br />CULVER BOULEVARD CORRIDOR REALIGNMENT PROJECT AND STORMWATER <br />FILTRATION AND RETENTION PROJECT, Culver City, CA <br />Tetra Tech performed survey and civil engineering design <br />services for two separate projects along Culver Boulevard, <br />a median realignment project and a regional stormwater <br />capture project. At the heart of the realignment project is a <br />newly constructed 58-foot wide raised landscape median, <br />complete with buffered bicycle and pedestrian paths to <br />improve pedestrian and vehicular safety and mobility while <br />mitigating traffic noise and nuisance impacts to nearby <br />residents. Street improvements included the reconfiguration <br />of existing traffic lanes, new and reconstructed landscape <br />medians, traffic signal additions and modifications, newly <br />designed bus stops, signal interconnects, new lighting, utility <br />adjustments, relocation of existing catch basins, and the <br />design of a parking lane with innovative buffer treatment to <br />separate it from the eastbound high-speed travel lanes on Culver Boulevard. <br />The regional stormwater capture project will maximize pollutant and stormwater capture by diverting dry and wet - <br />weather stormwater flows at a rate of up to 50 cubic -feet -per -second from two stormwater facility locations. Diverted <br />stormwater flows are first sent to one of two pretreatment units to remove trash and sediments and then to a <br />concrete underground storage facility capable of providing up to 8-acre-feet of storage. Stored water is pumped to <br />the post -storage filtration system where it is polished for final pollutant removal before being returned to downstream <br />storm drain channels and receiving waters. As an added benefit of this project, treated stormwater will be used to <br />offset potable water irrigation demands on the newly constructed 58-foot-wide raised landscape median and at <br />nearby Veterans Park. <br />NTETRA TECH <br />
