CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
CAMEO HIGHLANDS STREET
RECONSTRUCTION
Newport Beach, CA
Psomas was retained to lead a multi -disciplined
team to develop a plan for street reconstruction
within the Cameo Highlands neighborhood in
the City of Newport Beach. The project's scope
consisted of reconstructing the existing asphalt
roadway, reconstructing deteriorated concrete
flatwork, completing ADA improvements in the
project limits, adjusting utilities to grade, installing
street signs, and pavement striping.
Psomas and the pavement design expert
performed value engineering to develop flexible
pavement design alternatives and submitted
a pavement report for City staff for review and
consideration.
Psomas provided civil engineering, surveying,
and project management services for
development of the street and ADA improvements,
ensuring proper drainage was maintained, and
provided wet utility mapping and horizontal control
of the project.
REFERENCE: Patricia Carpenter
Associate Civil Engineer 1949.644.3344
pcarpenter@newportbeachca.gov
YEAR COMPLETED: 2021
LIDO VILLAGE PIPELINE
IMPROVEMENTS
Newport Beach, CA
The City of Newport Beach Public Works
Department wished to replace older (1930s and
1940s), deteriorated cast iron water mains identified
in its most current water master plan. The project
was located in the Lido Village area of the City and
included design and construction of approximately
6,500 feet of water main. There were about
2,000 feet of 4-inch, 1,500 feet of 6-inch, 2,800 feet
of 8-inch, and 250 feet of 10-inch main that were
upsized by one diameter inch and replaced.
The project was generally located on the northeast
side of the Balboa peninsula in the City of Newport
Beach known as Lido Village. A portion of this
project also included replacement of about 800 LF
of 8-inch sewer main design along Via Oporto.
There was one location in particular that was to
be upsized where a current site development was
occurring. Psomas worked with the developer's
design engineer and the City to provide
information and a separate plan set for this area
so it could be installed at an accelerated pace to
meet the developer's schedule.
REFERENCE: Alfred Castanon
Associate Civil Engineer 1949.644.3314
acastanon@newportbeachca.gov
YEAR COMPLETED: 2019
