YORBA LINDA WATER DISTRICT CITY OF ANAHEIM
BNSF WATERLINE CROSSING
AT VETERANS VILLAGE -
J-2021-36
Yorba Linda, CA
Psomas prepared an IS/MND to evaluate
the construction of a new water pipeline to
transmit water to the Plant 1 or PFAS (Per- and
Polyfluoroalkyl Substances) Water Treatment
Plant, effectively looping the water system and
providing water system redundancy. The proposed
pipeline would deliver water to the consumers
south of Orangethorpe Avenue, leaving the
Richfield Road pipeline to transport water to
Highland Reservoir, only in the other direction.
Proposed construction methods include open
trench within existing roadway right-of-way,
extension of pipes above and outside Atwood
Channel using water main pipe supports, and
jack -and -bore beneath the BNSF rail line. Psomas
worked closely with the Yorba Linda Water District
to define the impact areas, thus avoiding the need
for regulatory permits.
REFERENCE: Reza Afshar, PE, PMP
Senior Engineer 1714.701.3106
rafshar@ylwd.com
YEAR COMPLETED: Current
GROUNDWATER TREATMENT
PLANTS PHASE B AND
GROUNDWATER SUPPLY
WELLS IS/MND AND CEQA-PLUS
Anaheim, CA
Psomas prepared an IS/MND and supplemental
CEQA-Plus Documentation for the City of
Anaheim's Groundwater Treatment Plants
Phase B and Groundwater Supply Wells Project.
The project involves the installation of ion -
exchange groundwater treatment systems at
the five locations in the City of Anaheim. The
ion -exchange systems are intended to remove
perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) and
perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) from groundwater.
Two new groundwater supply wells would be
installed at one location and additional wells would
be rehabilitated due to age. Psomas prepared a
mitigated negative declaration for this project and
completed additional technical studies to comply
with CEQA-Plus guidelines pursuant to the
Clean Water State Revolving Fund requirements.
To ensure continuous availability of water, the
treatment systems would operate up to 24 hours
per day; therefore, Psomas worked with the
City to design a suitable noise barrier to ensure
compliance with the local noise ordinance.
REFERENCE: Jonathan Sanks
Environmental Services and Safety Manager
714.765.4117 1 jsanks@anaheim.net
YEAR COMPLETED: 2021
