Active Transportation <br />Champions <br />While many of our industry peers approach transportation <br />projects from the sole perspective of the motorist, Alta <br />considers the perspective of the end user who is biking, <br />walking, and taking public transportation. Our engineers <br />design improvements that make roadways and intersections <br />safer, easier to understand for all users, and more <br />comfortable for bicyclists and pedestrians. Alta is a national <br />leader in planning and designing bikeway solutions, having <br />authored the National Association of City Transportati: n <br />Officials (NACTO) Urban Bikeway Design Guide, Caltrans' <br />Complete Intersections handbook, and most recently, the <br />Quick -Build Guide: How to Build Safer Streets Quickly <br />and Affordably to help communities during the COVID-19 <br />Pandemic (co-authored with the California Bicycle Coalition). <br />Given our depth of expertise, we can proactively work <br />through potential project challenges to carry out Santa Ana's <br />vision for this on -call. <br />Areas of Service <br />Alta takes an all-inclusive approach to designing <br />streetscapes and sidewalks to be efficient and safe for all <br />users. We are fully rooted in the fundamentals of traditional <br />civil engineering principles while envisioning more active, <br />equitable, and accessible environments for all users. <br />Our staff has specialized expertise in traffic calming, <br />on -street bikeways, context -sensitive design, Safe Routes <br />to School, Complete Streets, transit corridors, access, <br />circulation, urban design, new mobility integration, and <br />many other aspects of creating safe and intuitive on -street <br />facilities that work seamlessly with adjacent sidewalk and trail <br />systems. Our team of civil engineers, traffic engineers, and <br />landscape architects understands how to create multi -modal <br />streets that respond to the 21st century needs of pedestrians, <br />bicyclists, transit users, and motorists. <br />Alta's in-house Civil and Traffic Engineering, Landscape <br />Architecture, and Transportation Planning Teams are <br />prepared to deliver on RFPs that are anticipated from <br />the City's On -Call contract. We will provide the City with <br />the following expertise: <br />CIVIL ENGINEERING AND DESIGN <br />Alta has provided civil engineering design services to <br />agencies, including plans, specifications and cost estimates <br />for pavement rehabilitation, Complete Streets, and <br />streetscape improvement projects. Our project experience <br />demonstrates that we consider the needs of all users in our <br />technical project development process. <br />ADA accessibility in roadway design is our tam's specialty. <br />The Alta Team's experience designing ADA compliant and <br />accessible curb ramps for agencies like the City of Los <br />Angeles, the City of El Monte, and Caltrans has built our <br />awareness of the liability risk many cities face with having <br />non -compliant ADA facilities within theirjurisdictions, giving <br />us valuable insight. <br />Alta led conceptual design, outreach, and preparation of construction documents for Culver City's first separated bikeway on Elenda Street, as well as <br />neighborhood improvemetns to create Safe Routes to La Ballona Elementary School. <br />ALTA PLANNING + DESIGN, INC.
