Other Available Financial Assistance <br />Programs <br />UEI Institutional Loan Program <br />This loan program is available to students who <br />need additional financial assistance for tuition <br />and fees. The minimum loan amount is $500 with <br />repayment terms between 12 to 60 months. <br />Veterans Benefits <br />The GI Bill® and Post 9/11 GI Bill@ are a few of <br />the VA programs available for our veteran <br />students. If you believe you may qualify, contact <br />your local Veterans Administration Office for <br />assistance. <br />GI Bill@ is a registered trademark of the U.S. <br />Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More <br />information about education benefits offered by <br />VA is available at the official U.S. government <br />website at http://www.benefits.va..qov/-qibill <br />Agency Programs <br />Work Investment Act, State Rehabilitation and <br />Displaced Workers programs are available <br />through various agencies. UEI participates with <br />several state and local agencies that provide <br />these programs. If you are receiving <br />unemployment benefits or are on a subsidy <br />program, contact your local agency office to see <br />if you qualify for one of these programs. <br />Academic Standards <br />Delivery Method <br />The institution is approved to offer programs <br />through residential, Hybrid and Online delivery. <br />Under residential delivery, all courses In a <br />program are held at the campus. Hybrid <br />programs consist of online lecture and on ground <br />lab. Online programs are delivered 100% online. <br />Externship courses are offered residentially (on - <br />ground). Refer to the program outline for details <br />for each program delivery method. <br />Title 38 beneficiaries are not eligible for online or <br />hybrid modality at all campuses except for the <br />Gardena, Sacramento, and Riverside locations. <br />Definition of a Module <br />All programs at UEI College consist of <br />instructional modules. A module is a self- <br />contained unit of Instruction. With the exception <br />of the Dental Assistant, Heating, Ventilation and <br />Air Conditioning and Electrician Technician <br />programs, students can enter at the beginning of <br />any module except externship and continue in the <br />cycle until completion of the program. <br />Definition of a Clock and Credit Hour <br />The conversion from clock hours to semester <br />®' <br />credit units is 15 clock hours of lecture, 30 clock <br />hours of lab, or 45 clock hours of externship <br />equals one semester credit unit. A clock hour is <br />defined as a 60-minute span of time in which no <br />less than 50 minutes is devoted to actual class <br />instruction, with the remaining portion being <br />designated as a break. For financial aid <br />purposes, one semester credit unit is equivalent <br />to 37.5 clock hours which includes approved <br />outside/homework hours. <br />The credit conversion for financial aid credits is <br />30 Clock Hours to 1 Semester Credit. <br />Published Program Length <br />Instructional Weeks: The total instructional time <br />consisting of lecture, lab and externship required <br />to complete the program as measured in weeks. <br />Instructional weeks are an element only used by <br />regulatory agencies to determine that a program <br />will meet its required objectives. <br />Normal Time to Complete: The instructional <br />weeks, as noted above, do not include holidays, <br />scheduled breaks, or the actual time to complete <br />an externship. Due to various start dates and <br />scheduled breaks within the year, the normal time <br />to complete represents a more accurate <br />completion length of time for the average student <br />in each program. The normal time to complete is <br />the average time from a student's start date to the <br />student's graduation date as measured in weeks. <br />This normal time to complete does not however <br />take into account students who receive transfer <br />credits, take a leave of absence or is required to <br />repeat a class. <br />Student Progress Reporting <br />At the end of each module, students receive a <br />Progress Report. Students have up to seven (7) <br />days after the module ends to appeal a grade. No <br />changes will be made after seven (7) days. <br />While on externship students are evaluated on <br />their performance and receive a letter grade. <br />Make-up Work <br />Make-up work may be completed to make up for <br />assignments, exams, or other course content <br />missed during classes. The make-up work must <br />be arranged between the student and the <br />instructor. Make-up work may include, but is not <br />limited to, the assignment of additional homework <br />or other assignments comparable to the content <br />covered during the delivery of the class missed. <br />All make-up work must be completed within 7 <br />days after the module ends. Students cannot use <br />Make-up work to make up class attendance hours <br />missed. As defined under the Tardy section of the <br />
