The Office of Student Assistance and Relief is <br />available to support prospective students, <br />current students, or past students of private <br />postsecondary educational institutions in making <br />informed decisions, understanding their rights, <br />and navigating available services and relief <br />options. If a student does not <br />feel that the school has adequately addressed a <br />complaint or concern, the student may consider <br />contacting the Accrediting Commission. All <br />complaints reviewed by the Commission must be <br />35 <br />in written form and should grant permission for <br />the Commission to forward a copy of the <br />complaint to the school for a response. This can <br />be accomplished by filing the ACCSC complaint <br />Form. The complaint(s) will be kept informed as <br />to the status of the complaint as well as the final <br />resolution by the Commission. However, for the benefit of students who <br />do not have a high school diploma or GED, the <br />school provides a referral service on the available <br />GED programs near the campus. <br />Student Record Retention <br />UEI College will maintain student records for <br />each student, whether or not the student <br />completes the educational service, for a period <br />ending five (5) years after the date of the <br />student's graduation, withdrawal, or termination <br />(with the exception of students who cancel their <br />program). Student transcripts will be maintained <br />indefinitely. <br />Family Educational Rights and Privacy <br />Act: of 1974, As Amended <br />The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of <br />1974, as amended (FERPA), is a federal law that <br />protects student information and affords eligible <br />students the following rights with respect to their <br />education records: <br />1. The right to inspect and review the student's <br />education records within 45 days of the day the <br />institution receives a request for access. <br />2. The right to request the amendment of <br />education records the student believes are <br />inaccurate, misleading, or otherwise in violation <br />of the student's privacy rights under FERPA. <br />3. The right to provide written consent before the <br />institution discloses personally identifiable <br />information (Pit) from the student's education <br />
