allowed to continue his or her clinical/externship <br />and is dismissed from another site, he or she will <br />be withdrawn from school. Students who are <br />dismissed from clinical/externships will be <br />required to repeat the entire clinical/externship. <br />Students may be required to travel up to 200 miles <br />away from campus to attend clinical assignments, <br />depending on programmatic requirements. Specific <br />information regarding travel distance to clinical <br />assignments will be provided to students during the <br />enrollment process, Students are responsible for their <br />own travel to and from clinical assignments and must <br />plan accordingly. <br />Criteria for Assessing Student <br />Performance While on <br />Externship <br />Students must demonstrate passing scores in all <br />courses, including practical written exams and <br />hands-on lab exams, prior to being assigned an <br />externship. <br />During the externship course, each student will be <br />evaluated in the areas of professional performance and <br />appearance, attendance, and practical skills. To <br />complete the externship successfully, a student must <br />satisfactorily perform each procedure outlined in the <br />training plan and demonstrate satisfactory work habits. <br />If, when evaluated, the extern is unable to perform <br />certain procedures properly, the student will be <br />required to return to campus for additional training in <br />the unsatisfactory areas. During the externship course, <br />the student may be required to return to campus for <br />weekly scheduled meetings to provide continued <br />interaction with the Extern Coordinator, If the student's <br />work habits are unsatisfactory on the first evaluation, <br />the coordinator will confer with the student at that time. <br />If work habits are still unsatisfactory at the end of the <br />externship period, the student may be required to serve <br />an additional externship. A student may repeat the <br />externship only once. If failure of the externship occurs <br />twice, the student will be withdrawn from the program. <br />The externshlp evaluation scale Is as follows: <br />3 <br />Student knows the <br />underlying principles and <br />carries out procedures <br />skillfully and accurately. <br />2 <br />Student performs <br />procedures with a fair <br />degree of accuracy. <br />1 <br />Student performs most <br />procedures but requires <br />guidance and supervision. <br />0 <br />Student is unable to <br />perform procedures even <br />with guidance and <br />supervision, <br />x <br />Procedure was not <br />observed or performed. <br />Student Records <br />Effective. 08/24/2020 <br />The Registrars office maintains academic records of all <br />coursework completed at the school, and they are <br />maintained on campus for five years. Academic <br />transcripts are maintained indefinitely. Transcripts are <br />released only after receipt of a signed, written request <br />from the student. Transcripts issued to the student are <br />marked "Issued to Student" Students are allowed one <br />official transcript at no charge. Afee will be charged for <br />each additional transcript. <br />Records on Hold <br />Effective: 08/24/2020 <br />Academic records may be placed on hold for any of the <br />following reasons; <br />• A financial obligation to Concorde Career College; <br />• Failure to return Learning Resource Center <br />materials or school equipment; or <br />• Default on a federal student loan. <br />Until the hold is removed, individuats will not be <br />allowed to: <br />Restart school from a withdrawal status <br />Appeals to this policy may be made to the Campus <br />President in writing. The Campus President will notify <br />the student in writing regarding the outcome of the <br />appeal. <br />Academic Units of Credit <br />One semester credit hour equals 45 units (and one <br />quarter credit hour equals 30 units), comprised of the <br />following academic activities: <br />One clock hour in a didactic learning environment <br />- 2 units <br />One clock hour in a supervised laboratory setting <br />of instruction -1.5 units <br />One hour of externship = 1 unit <br />One hour of out -of -class work and/or preparation <br />for the didactic learning environment or <br />supervised laboratory setting of instruction that <br />2022-2023 Garden Grove Catalog I Publication Date: May 20, 20231 Effective July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023 <br />48 <br />
