ECN 330. Microeconomics <br />3 credits <br />This course introduces microeconomic concepts and <br />analysis, supply and demand analysis, theories of the firm <br />and individual behavior, competition and monopoly, and <br />welfare economics. Students will also be introduced to the <br />use of microeconomic applications to address problems in <br />current economic policy. <br />ENG 100. College Writing <br />3 credits <br />This course stresses the principles and practice of written <br />communication, with an emphasis on reading and writing <br />expository essays and on research skills. It is designed to <br />develop reading, critical thinking, and writing strategies <br />necessary for academic success. <br />GE 300. Computer Information Systems <br />3 credits <br />This course provides a working knowledge of <br />microcomputers, microcomputer operating systems, and <br />computer applications used in the workplace. The focus of <br />this course is on productivity software applications and <br />professional behavior in computing, including word <br />processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation graphics, <br />and business -oriented utilization of the Internet. <br />GE 301. Technological Impact on Society <br />3 credits <br />This course provides a framework for understanding the <br />ways in which human societies transform themselves <br />through technological innovation. Ethical questions <br />concerning the social effects of technological change are <br />presented and discussed. <br />GE 302. Working Around the World <br />3 credits <br />This course is an examination of the effects that religion, <br />language and culture, political structure, economics, and <br />physical environment have on the development of the <br />workplace and people's perceptions of work, occupations, <br />and working conditions. <br />GE 303. Ethical Decision Making and Toxic <br />Leadership <br />3 credits <br />This course provides students with a self -assessment, tools, <br />and techniques to make ethical decisions in the modern <br />world. Students will learn how to identify and reduce toxic <br />leadership within an organization. <br />GE 304. Professional Speaking in Business <br />3 credits <br />This course is designed to focus on developing <br />communication skills in different types of presentation styles <br />for business. Students develop small group and <br />interpersonal communication skills. Students also develop <br />problem solving, team management and leadership skills for <br />work -related situations. <br />GE 330. Communication for the Workplace <br />3 credits <br />Development of an understanding of what is needed and <br />meant by workplace literacy and what can be done to <br />improve the basic skills and literacy for working employees. <br />Course content includes principles of effective writing and <br />oral communication for education and the workplace, <br />extensive practice in various forms of writing for the <br />workplace, the methodology of teaching communication <br />skills to employees, and case studies of workplace reports, <br />negotiations, and oral presentations. <br />HCA 300. Introduction to Health Policy <br />3 credits <br />An overview of the U.S. health care system, its components, <br />and the policy challenges created by its organization. The <br />focus is on the major health policy institutions and important <br />issues that cut across institutions, including private insurers <br />and the federal/state financing programs (Medicare and <br />Medicaid/SCHIP). Disparities in access to care, the role of <br />pharmaceuticals in health care and the pricing and <br />regulation of the pharmaceutical industry, the quality of care, <br />the challenges of long-term care and the aging of the <br />population, and the drivers of cost growth will be discussed. <br />HCA 301. Crisis Management/Regulatory <br />Compliance <br />3 credits <br />This course examines crisis management and methods of <br />managing risk in healthcare organizations.
