NUR 103. Child and Family Nursing <br />2 credits - 32 lecture hours <br />This course focuses on the care of children within the family, <br />emphasizing on acute illness, health promotion, and growth <br />and development. QSEN concepts of safety, patient/family <br />centered care, teamwork and collaboration, evidenced -based <br />practice, quality improvement, and informatics are <br />emphasized. <br />NUR 103-C. Child and Family Nursing, Clinical <br />2 credits - 96 clinical hours <br />Students are provided the opportunity to apply the nursing <br />process in the care of infant, toddler, pre- school, school -age, <br />and adolescent population in a variety of laboratory and <br />clinical settings. <br />NUR 104. Maternal Child Nursing <br />2 credits - 32 lecture hours <br />This course presents nursing concepts related to the <br />dynamics of the growing family. Focus is placed on the care <br />of families during childrearing years and includes normal <br />and high -risk pregnancies, normal growth and development, <br />and the promotion of healthy behaviors. Laboratory and <br />Clinical experiences provide the student an opportunity to <br />apply theoretical concepts and implement safe patient care <br />to mothers and newborns in a variety of settings. <br />NUR 104-C. Maternal Child Nursing, Clinical <br />2 credits - 96 clinical hours <br />This course presents nursing concepts related to the <br />dynamics of the growing family. Mental Health and Gero-Psychiatric <br />Nursing <br />2 credits - 32 lecture hours <br />This course focuses on the care of adults and older adults <br />experiencing cognitive, mental and behavioral disorders. <br />Emphasis is placed on management of patients facing <br />emotional and psychological stressors as well as promoting <br />and maintaining the mental health of individuals and <br />families. Concepts of crisis intervention, therapeutic <br />communication, anger management, and coping skills are <br />integrated throughout the course. <br />NUR 105-C. Mental Health and Gero-Psychiatric <br />Nursing, Clinical <br />2 credits - 96 clinical hours <br />Students are provided laboratory and clinical experience in <br />various Psych and Gero-Psych clinical settings. <br />NUR 106. Advanced Medical -Surgical Nursing <br />3 credits - 48 lecture hours <br />This course focuses on advanced application of the nursing <br />process in the care of critically ill adult and older adult <br />clients. The student will organize and discriminate data to <br />establish priorities of care. <br />NUR 106-C. Advanced Medical -Surgical Nursing, <br />Clinical <br />4 credits - 192 clinical hours <br />This course focuses on advanced application of the nursing <br />process in the care of critically ill adult and older adult <br />clients. The student will organize and discriminate data to <br />establish priorities of care. <br />NUR 107. Transition to Professional Practice <br />2 credits - 32 lecture hours <br />This course is a capstone course that examines the transition <br />of the student to the role of a professional nurse. Emphasis is <br />placed on contemporary issues and management concepts, <br />as well as comprehensive review of legal and ethical issues <br />are discussed with a focus on personal accountability and <br />responsibility. <br />NUR 107-C. Transition to Professional Practice, <br />Clinical <br />2 credits - 96 clinical hours <br />This course is a capstone course that examines the transition <br />of the student to the role of a Professional Nurse. Application <br />of organizational theory and leadership practices will be <br />explored in a variety of nursing leadership roles. <br />Development of skills and competencies will be expanded <br />both within and beyond the wall of the acute care setting. <br />NUR 108. Introduction to Pharmacology <br />2 credits - 32 lecture hours <br />This course is a capstone course that examines the transition <br />of the student to the role of a professional nurse.
