General Education <br />General Education prepares students to be independent learners by providing a range of connected <br />learning experiences. Courses are designed to introduce a breadth and depth of knowledge that includes <br />intellectual competency, technological proficiency, global citizenship, and engage in life-long learning. <br />Students will develop essential knowledge and skills that are transferable to future coursework, career <br />goals, and personal development. <br />Student Learning Outcomes <br />Upon successful completion of General Education coursework, students will be able to: <br />1. Develop the disposition and skills to gather, organize, refine, analyze, and evaluate critically <br />information and ideas in written and oral forms. <br />2. Develop and express themselves clearly and appropriately in writing for a range of social, <br />academic, and professional contexts and use appropriate writing technologies. Students will be <br />able to listen critically and speak thoughtfully, clearly, and appropriately to a variety of social, <br />academic, and professional audiences. <br />3. Reason and solve quantitative problems from a wide array of contexts and everyday life <br />situations; understand and create logical arguments supported by quantitative evidence; and <br />clearly communicate those arguments in a variety of formats (e.g., writing, speaking, <br />graphs/tables, and mathematical equations) as appropriate. <br />4. Understand various institutions (e.g., cultural, political, economic, religious, and educational) and <br />their historical backgrounds, as well as principles of human behavior and social interaction. <br />Academic Programs <br />Master of Science in Nursing - Family Nurse Practitioner <br />Program Description <br />The Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN-FNP) program is focused on <br />developing the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver nursing care to persons of all ages across <br />primary care settings, including those in rural and under -served areas. MSN-FNP graduates are prepared <br />for advanced clinical practice that involves individuals and families throughout the lifespan and across <br />the health continuum. The program is designed for working professionals seeking advanced skills in <br />nursing who have already earned a baccalaureate degree in nursing and have worked as an RN. <br />Coursework is completed online and clinical experiences are completed in local primary care settings. <br />The curriculum is consistent with the highest national standards, including guidelines established by the <br />National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties and the American Association of Colleges of <br />Nursing. <br />Program Learning Outcomes <br />Upon successful completion of this program, graduates will be able to: <br />1. Integrate and translate theory and research from the sciences, humanities and nursing in the <br />delivery of evidence -based nursing practice. <br />2. Demonstrate leadership skills to improve the quality and safety of health care at the <br />organizational, systems and practice level. <br />3.
