Demonstrate inter -professional collaboration for identifying clinical prevention strategies and <br />improving patient and population health outcomes. <br />Family Nurse Practitioner Track <br />Graduates of the Family Nurse Practitioner program are prepared for and eligible to take Family Nurse <br />Practitioner advanced practice certification exams offered by American Academy of Nurse Practitioners <br />National Certification (AANPCB) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). FNP graduates have <br />the knowledge and experience to manage healthcare needs of individuals and their family across the life <br />span in a changing health care system. Focus is on health promotion and primary care management of the <br />both the acute and chronically ill patient in rural and urban communities. <br />Program Admission Requirements <br />In addition to fulfilling the Graduate Admission Requirements, an applicant to the Master of Science in <br />Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner program shall: <br />1. Provide a statement of professional goals. The Statement is your opportunity to tell faculty what <br />you are planning to do with your career after you finish your master's degree. Your Goal <br />Statement should indicate your understanding of the role of the advanced practice nurse and your <br />impact on the healthcare system and patient population you serve. <br />2. Provide a resume. <br />3. Provide three letters of professional reference. References should be from faculty members, <br />professional colleagues, or work supervisors who can evaluate your potential for success in a <br />graduate program. Recommendations from family, friends, other students or co-workers are NOT <br />appropriate. <br />4. Provide proof of an active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license from the United States. <br />5. Provide proof of a current CPR (BLS) certification <br />6. Program Director Interview. <br />Both the writing style (i.e., grammar, punctuation, spelling, word use) and content of your responses will <br />be used in the overall evaluation of your application to the program. After a preliminary review of your <br />application, you will be contacted to schedule the phone interview. <br />Program Length <br />The Master of Science in Nursing degree program is comprised of 40 semester credits and requires 540 <br />clinical hours.
