Non-discrimination Policy <br />GMC does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, <br />gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, <br />or military status, in any of its activities or operations. These activities include, but are not <br />limited to, the appointment to and termination from its Board of Directors, hiring and firing of <br />staff or contractors, selection of volunteers, selection of vendors, and providing of services, <br />GMC is an equal opportunity employer. We shall not discriminate and will not discriminate in <br />employment, recruitment, Board membership, advertisements for employment, compensation, <br />termination, upgrading, promotions, and other conditions of employment against any <br />employee orjob applicant on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender <br />expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or <br />military status, or for any other discriminatory reason. <br />Probation and Dismissal Policy <br />The escalating disciplinary action begins with the instructor or administrator working with the <br />student directly. If this direct communication fails to address the issue, then the incident is <br />escalated to the Director of Education. The incident is formally written up and reviewed, <br />assessment made and the record is filed in the student file within 30 days. The Director of <br />Education notifies the student in writing, Conditions for removal off probation are outlined and <br />monitored. A second written incident report results in a dismissal. Appeals to decisions are <br />made to the Director of Education using the Dismissal Appeal Form. The review and <br />reassessment is completed within 14 days. <br />Students who are on probation remain responsible for their financial commitments and <br />completing their program or course. Students who are dismissed from their program or course <br />must remain responsible for their financial commitments. <br />Program Length <br />GMC vocational programs have a maximum length that is covered by the tuition and fees. <br />Students who cannot complete their program requirements during this maximum length may <br />request an extension. There is an extension fee. See the fee schedule in the appendix. <br />In addition, programs tuition that includes a voucher for a National Certification Exam must be <br />completed within that maximum length plus one month. If a student does not complete the <br />National Certification Exam during that maximum length plus one month, then the student <br />forfeits the National Certification Exam fee, and those fees must be paid by the student. See the <br />program description for the maximum length. <br />Record Retention Policy <br />GMC student records are kept for five years. Transcripts are permanently maintained. Students <br />may request copies of their records up to one year after course completion. There may be a <br />research and archive fee to provide records.
