Programs and Courses <br />GMC offers vocational programs and continuing education courses. The details below include <br />general program or course information, standards of student achievement, and course <br />completion requirements. <br />Vocational Programs <br />GMC vocational programs are developed by GMC, all curriculum and instruction is provided by <br />GMC, and the course completion and course completion certificates are under the GMC logo. <br />ECG/EKG Technician (classroom and hybrid) <br />Program Description <br />This program is ideal for healthcare providers seeking to enter the acute care or critical care <br />environment, as well as prehospital care providers that work with ECG monitors. This course <br />overviews the heart's anatomy and physiology, cardiac cycle, electrical impulse and the basic <br />criteria) for a normal sinus rhythm. This course also teaches how to identify and respond to the <br />following various Bradycardia, blocks, and Tachycardia. Additionally, this course teaches the <br />learning to identify an Acute Myocardial Infarction and Ischemia by teaching the student to <br />recognize Significant Q waves, Significant Q waves with ST Elevation, ST Segment Depression, <br />and T wave Inversion. This is a 50-hour program that includes lectures, quizzes, discussions, <br />skills, and national exam preparation resources. <br />Duration 50 hours, Maximum length 2 months <br />Electronic Health Information Management (online) <br />Program Description <br />This course is a complete resource tool for the student and/or professional learner. Electronic <br />Health Information Management covers the different healthcare organizations and guides <br />students through the various areas of the field. Students will learn the different influences of <br />organizations such as the American Health Information Management Association (ANIMA) and <br />The Joint Commission (formerly known as JHACC). In addition, students will be introduced to <br />Electronic Health Records (EHR) software that is commonly used in healthcare <br />settings. Students will learn how to enter patient demographics, store, and retrieve patient <br />records and chart notes, and transfer and important documents into the EHR. <br />Duration 288 hours, Maximum length 4 months <br />Electronic Health Records (online) <br />Program Description <br />The Electronic Health Records program focuses on the basics of electronic health records. <br />Students learn the purpose, design, and function of these systems along with the legal and <br />regulatory guidelines. Emphasis is on the organizational demands and healthcare user needs <br />administratively, clinically, and financially.
