2022-2025 MOU City of Santa Ana & SEIU Full-Time Employees Unit Page 22 <br />A qualified incumbent of such position shall be paid a monthly differential of forty <br />dollars ($40.00) for each full month of such assignment. <br />D. Limits on Assignments <br />The number of bilingual assignments shall be no larger than the requirements of <br />the department, as determined by the Department Head and the City Manager. <br />E. Limits on Bilingual Pay <br />In no event shall an employee be eligible to earn more than one (1) bilingual pay <br />differential. <br />5.4 Shift Differential <br />A. Night Shift Differential <br />An employee who is continuously and regularly assigned to a schedule of work <br />which requires that they actually work a minimum of four and one-half (4.5) hours <br />between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., shall be paid a shift differential for <br />their entire work shift at a rate set ten (10) salary rate ranges, which is <br />approximately five percent (5.0%) higher than their base salary step. Effective <br />January 1, 2023, the assignment pay differential in this provision shall be <br />approximately five percent (5.0%) above their base monthly salary step. <br />This shift pay differential shall not be applicable to employees in the classification <br />of Park Ranger and Supervising Park Ranger. <br />B. Library Shift Differential <br />Employees hired and assigned to the Library prior to December 1, 1987, who work <br />evening shifts until closing time, but who are not otherwise eligible for shift <br />differential as provided under Subsection A above, shall receive special shift pay <br />in an amount equal to one-half (0.5) of one (1) hour’s pay for each day they work <br />an evening shift until closing time. <br />This special shift pay shall be computed on the hourly equivalent of the base <br />monthly salary step. This half hour of shift pay shall not be counted toward the <br />computation of overtime. <br />Such special library shift pay differential shall not be applicable to library <br />employees hired on or after December 1, 1987.
