<br />ARTICLE VIII <br />8.0 HOLIDAYS <br />8.1 Employees shall receive the following days off during the calendar year as paid holidays: <br /> January 1 - New Year's Day <br /> Third (3rd) Monday in January - Martin Luther King's Birthday <br /> Third (3rd) Monday in February - Presidents’ Day <br /> March 31 – Cesar Chavez Day (effective the first holiday after City Council <br />approval of this 2022-2025 MOU) <br /> Last Monday in May - Memorial Day <br /> July 4 - Independence Day <br /> First (1st) Monday in September - Labor Day <br /> November 11 - Veteran's Day <br /> Fourth (4th) Thursday in November - Thanksgiving Day <br /> The Friday immediately following Thanksgiving Day <br /> Last working day before Christmas Day, unless Christmas Day falls on a Thursday, <br />in which instance, the day following Christmas Day shall be observed in lieu <br />thereof <br /> December 25 - Christmas Day <br /> One (1) nine (9) hour Floating Holiday. Any workday selected by the employee <br />with prior permission of the employee's supervisor <br /> Every day proclaimed by the Mayor of the City as a holiday for City employees <br /> Any holiday which falls on a Sunday will be observed on the following Monday. <br />Any holiday which falls on a Saturday will be observed on the Friday preceding the <br />holiday. <br />8.2 Holidays – Employees on Alternate Work Schedules. <br />A.Full-time employees whose regular scheduled days off are other than Saturday and <br />Sunday shall be entitled to receive twelve (12) working days off during the year in <br />lieu of the holiday benefits specified in Section 8.1. Holidays will be credited based <br />on the employee’s working schedule. If the holiday falls on a regular nine (9) hour <br />day, then nine (9) holiday hours will be credited. If the holiday falls on the eight (8) <br />hour working Friday then eight (8) hours of holiday pay will be credited, with the <br />exception of floating holidays that will be granted at nine (9) hours regardless of <br />work schedule. <br />B.Said substitute holidays may be scheduled by the Executive Director or their <br />designee, normally during the same month that the holiday is observed by other <br />City employees. An employee entitled to time off in lieu of holidays shall receive <br />SANTA ANA MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION (SAMA) MOU: 2022-2025 21
