<br />appointments for members of the employee’s household. For the purposes of this <br />section only, a “day” shall be defined as the number of hours of work that an <br />employee is required to work according to their specific workday schedule. <br />K.Payment for Unused Sick Leave. For all employees in the bargaining unit who are <br />currently employed by the City in a full-time position before the date of City <br />Council approval of this 2022-2025 MOU: <br />1. <br />2. <br />Except in cases of disability retirement, upon non-disciplinary termination <br />of employment: <br />Payment After Ten (10) Years. After ten (10) years but less than fifteen (15) <br />years of cumulative full-time service with the City, each qualified employee <br />shall be entitled to payment for fifty percent (50%) of the total accrued sick <br />leave benefit credited into either, 1) their individual Retirement Health <br />Savings (RHS) account or, 2) their individual 457 deferred compensation <br />account, upon the effective date of such termination, not to exceed a <br />maximum limit of six hundred forty (640) hours, at the base rate of pay <br />effective on the date of such termination. <br />3. <br />4. <br />Payment After Fifteen (15) Years. After fifteen (15) years but less than <br />twenty (20) years of cumulative full-time service with the City, each <br />qualified employee shall be entitled to payment for fifty percent (50%) of <br />the total accrued sick leave benefit credited into either, 1) their individual <br />RHS account or, 2) their individual 457 deferred compensation account, not <br />to exceed a maximum limit of eight hundred hours (800) hours, at the base <br />rate of pay effective on the date of such termination. <br />Payment After Twenty (20) Years. After twenty (20) years but less than <br />twenty-five (25) years of cumulative full-time service with the City, each <br />qualified employee shall be entitled to payment for sixty-six and sixty-seven <br />hundredths percent (66.67%) of the total accrued sick leave benefit credited <br />into either, 1) their individual RHS account or, 2) their individual 457 <br />deferred compensation account, not to exceed a maximum limit of one <br />thousand sixty-seven (1,067) hours, at the base rate of pay effective on the <br />date of such termination. <br />5.Payment After Twenty-Five (25) Years. After twenty-five (25) years or <br />more of cumulative full-time service with the City, each qualified employee <br />shall be entitled to payment for one-hundred percent (100%) of the total <br />accrued sick leave benefit credited into either, 1) their individual RHS <br />account or, 2) their individual 457 account, not to exceed a maximum limit <br />SANTA ANA MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION (SAMA) MOU: 2022-2025 32
