Proposal to provide <br />Landscape Architectural Design Services for loth and Flower Park — RFP No. 22-124 <br />CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS <br />The following diagram depicts our understanding of the challenges associated with this project site. We have <br />developed solutions that DEA will implement to assist the City in delivering a park that includes features <br />requested by the community. <br />RESIDENTIAL <br />MULTI-FAMILI <br />WEST JOT" STREET <br />�v <br />RESIDENTIAL <br />OC PUBLIC DEFENDER <br />NORTH ^ PARKING LOT <br />V) <br />W <br />Q w <br />(D <br />H <br />N <br />O <br />z <br />RESIDENTIAL <br />LEGEND O Challenge <br />Adjacent to high volume street poses challenge for noise, safety and <br />Existing Tree exposure to pollutants. <br />Solution <br />Bus Stop Park design will look to create a park border to help reduce these impacts <br />while active play features will be located away from Flower. <br />Pedestrian Access <br />• Challenge <br />Park perimeter issues include the Garnsey Street homes and the street itself, <br />Highly Visible Corner <br />street parking, determination of right-of-way, curb and sidewalk conditions. <br />Solution <br />IDEA will work closely with the City to determine street parking requirements <br />and the impact on park users as well as improving pedestrian site access. <br />NEIGHBORHOOD <br />© Challenge <br />0.5 miles to Santa Ana City Hall <br />South edge of site is directly adjacent to neighboring parking lot. <br />Solution <br />0.3 miles to Santa Ana Public Library <br />Park design will screen the parking lot, DEA will work with the City to <br />determine if access is needed. <br />0.2 miles to Santa Ana Stadium <br />OChallenge <br />0.3 miles to Storybook Preschool <br />Existing site soil conditions could prevent proper infiltration or bio-filtration. <br />Solution <br />These conditions can be solved using proprietary water quality structures <br />similar to those found at other City parks. <br />16 1 February 28, 2023 1 David Evans and Associates, Inc. <br />
