SNSA .4
_ Santa Ana Unified School District
Facilities & Governmental Relations Jerry Almendarez
SCH004Orin L. Williams, Assistant Superintendent Superintendent of Schools
March 16, 2022
City of Santa Ana
Attention: Craig Foster, NPDES Manager
20 Civic Center Plaza (M-22)
Santa Ana, California 92701
RE: Letter of Support for City of Santa Ana Bristol -Tolliver Urban Greening Project
Dear Mr. Foster,
We understand the City of Santa Ana (City) is seeking grant funding from the California Natural
Resources Agency Urban Greening Grant Program for the Bristol -Tolliver Urban Greening
Project (Project). The Project area currently consists of vacant and unused parcels located along
the west side of Bristol Street, between McFadden Avenue and Tolliver Street, in a dense urban
community. These lots are immediately adjacent to King Elementary School, and the park would
be a significant benefit to the children of our community. The Project will transform the unused
area into a beautiful new green space with drought tolerant landscaping, shade trees, seating and
benches, signage, waste receptacles, pedestrian walkways, recreational/educational features,
lighting, and a stormwater treatment system. The Project will dramatically improve the
neighborhood and provide numerous benefits for the neighborhood.
The Santa Ana Unified School District supports the Project and the City's efforts to beautify
Santa Ana, enhance the environment near the major street and school, and improve water quality.
The Project takes steps towards increasing urban green space, meeting important water quality
goals, and addressing climate change.
If you have any questions or require additional information, please contact me at (714) 480-5356
or orin.williams@sausd.us
Respectfully sub ' ed,
Orin Williams
Assistant Superintendent
Facilities & Governmental Relations
1601 East Chestnut Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92701-6322, (714) 480-5356
BOARD OF EDUCATION
Rigo Rodriguez, Ph.D., President • Carolyn Torres, Vice President
Alfonso Alvarez, E.D., Clerk • John Palacio, Member • Valerie Amezcua, Member
